That would have left a mark

I was doing a repair on my trailer light bracket which was bent. I put the bent piece on the anvil, and grabbed my sludge hammer. I came down on that piece of iron. It took off like rocket ship away from me. The metal flew right into a head light I kept from my 34 Chevy. Broke the lens into little pieces. If that thing hit me it would have left a mark. Things sure happen quick. Stan

37Chief- My neighbor is 74 y/o. He can outwork me at times. He may not know the square root of nine but he can tell you how to time the knotters on a bailer.

We all have had 'near misses'. Just take it easy and take care of yourself.

I usually have a pretty good idea it"s going for a ride before I swing the hammer. Unfortunately, that doesn"t always stop me from swinging the hammer.

Had the same happen to me except the piece of round stock that was used to hold the guide on my snowplow decided to break off when I hit it with the hammer.
Looked around for the piece in the snow and then started to see red in the snow. It was my blood dripping from my forehead. The piece flew up and hit me square in the middle of my forehead and I never felt a thing. Put my hand over my head and the blood wouldn't stop. Walked to the house, tried to clean up the mess. Called my wife who at the time was at the neighbours and she came home to find blood all over the fresh snow. She panicked, she figured I lost a part of me somewhere. Turns out it was a 3/4 inch moon shape cut, but it bled like it was a severed limb.10 stitches later and now my daughter calls me dent head. Things can go the wrong way fast.

ya, one of those rules of the cosmos I guess.
When something takes off, it will bounce off numerous objects, do a few flips, and then hit you square in the shin bone.
Or will fly around until it finds the most expensive, irreplaceable thing in your shop......and smash into that....
