Where I live (central NY)it's tough to get hay dry without one. Unless it's really dry, I mow day one, ted it out day two, ted it out again, rake it and bale it day three. I have a side rake - if I had a rotary I could probably get by only tedding it once. My tedder is a Deutz - Fahr. It does a nice job, but I wouldn't recommend one.
