My preference is a 10 SI Delco, plentiful , cheap, and available at most auto parts in a 1 wire configuration. One word tho, the low RPM engines as used by MM and Case sometimes do not have enough rpm to excite a one wire.
There is another regulatir for the 10SI called a D10AC which requires removal of the diode trio and wires to excite the regulator directly from the stator output. On this type if its turning its charging.
It is not hard to install but better if you have some previous alternator experience. A rebuilder would fix one up cheaply for you.
The other alternative is to simply use a adapter plug available at the parts store and a simple light bulb in series with the ignition switch to the coil + side and the other to the output terminal of the alternator.
