My brother had a John Deere 57 probably ten years ago that was chain drive so we swapped sprockets for fun, did about 35 but he also put it in the ditch on the gravel as a little mower like that doesn't handle like a atv he didn't get hurt but that was the and of that, so it is possible just be carful.
