I was doing a repair one day at a sheriff's department when some elderly lady called. Her husband had recently passed away and she was cleaning house. She ran across his old 30's or 40's Smith Wesson .32 detective that she didn't want around, so she asked if a deputy could go pick it up. None of the detectives really wanted to, so I asked the sheriff to deputize me, and I offered to go take care of it. He said "NO", and sent one of his existing deputies, whom went and picked it up, brought it back to the office, and began his paperwork to have it destroyed. While he was doing that, she called back. Now she found a bunch of ammo, and asked if a deputy could pick it up as well. I looked at the sheriff and almost asked before he looked at me and said "NO", and sent one of his existing deputies.
Don't do what the little old lady did. It will make me cry, again.
