The first thing that Dad bought after we got electricity in 1950 was a heavy duty 1/2" drill; the 2nd thing that he bought was an arc welder. I started welding then when I was a sophmore in high school. Took more welding classes in college that I had a lot of fun with.
Is there a trade/tech college nearby where you could take some welding courses? It would open new opportunities for you if you could take some classes.
