Did you have a living agent or was it through the mail or on-line? I have a friend that is an agent and his clients register each valuable (rings etc.) and list it on their policy. How else would the company know what they are insuring and how much to charge you for each listed item? Your agent should have explained the process and put a rider on the policy to reflect your special valuables. On my farm policy, I was not covered by insurance when wind blew down and destroyed an auger because it was not listed separately on my policy. I learned to list separately anything I wanted covered and my premium is calculated on the total dollar amount of the listed items. It was also suggested that I photograph valuable items and if possible, keep sales receipts of recent expensive purchases. In a claim situation, the burden of proof of loss is on the insured. I have learned two things: insurance companies are in business to make money, and life is full of learning experiences. Better luck with your next policy! Jerry
