I'm a volunteer driver for seniors and yesterday had an 87 year old fellow tell me about jumping out of a glider over Holland with 40 pounds of explosive and a Sten gun and told to look for German tanks, sneak up on them and plant the explosives. Said he put the whole load on the tracks of a Tiger and blew it up. he was 18 and the time and now he's a little foggy mentally, but then went on to talk about cleaning up his yard this spring. I very much doubt i would have the guts to do what those people did. One of my uncles told me about shooting it out with a German tank on the polders in holland on the day of the German surrender when he was on an anti-tank gun. They shot a track off the tank and the crew surrendered. My uncles crew gave them coffee and cigarettes, then a couple of provost marshals appeared and took them away. They walked away from their gun and didn't look back. Took them 6 months to get home after sitting in a camp in England.
