I don't know anything about John Deere Commercial Mowers, but I've been thinking about buying a JD F-912. The owner says that you have put a rubber strap to keep the PTO engaged. I cannot get to look at, but I was looking at JD parts on the net. The F-912 shows a electric clutch at $570. With an electric clutch ,the PTO should be not running running or running all the time. This machine is on a online auction and don't know how to bid. Anybody familiar with these machines?
