I live about 50 miles west of Albany, NY and I always see some robins during the winter. It has been an especially harsh winter here and I have never seen more robins; literally flocks of fifty to a hundred some days. Here are a few eating frozen apples off one of my scrub apple trees near the house on Feb 15th. One reason I think I have seen so many is they tend to congregate along the roads where there is bare ground along the shoulders.
