40 years ago our local dealer was the largest volume dealer of David Brown tractors. There was one on at least every other farm in our township. Yes they were cheap to buy, tough no frills tractor.They had a one of a kind hydraulic system and featured Lucas (AKA the prince of darkness) electrical equipment. I think one of the reasons you dont't see many around still is due to the Case/Tenneco buyout that eliminated a lot of parts and dealer support. I believe that the start of my hearing loss is due to sitting on a 990 for many hours with those square cut transmission gears howling away under the seat.
