The paper mill that I retired from burned all the bark and scrap wood, even trucked in some additional. The primary boiler was coal fired but there was a feeding system to burn biomass along with the coal. We even burned shredded rubber tires and it reduced the emissions compared to coal. There was a very good scrubber on the stack but it could not take out the heavy metals from coal. Now the whole place is being cut up for scrap!
