We have a local green house(large operation) that heats everything with wood chip. They haul in framing waste, old pallets, cabinet shop wood etc etc and grind it up. They then push it into a pit that has an auger in the bottom that feeds a boiler. I have dropped wood off in the winter and I have never noticed large amounts of smoke, or anything of that nature. They go through large amounts of wood, and if they didnt burn it the stuff would all be at the landfill.
