Dealership technicians are paid flatrate. What ever the book says it should take, that is what they are paid. They get paid little to nothing to diagnose a vehicle, half hour to an hour if lucky. Unfortunately, that is the way dealers work. Flatrate pay favors speed over quality. Most dealer techs are paid in the $20 an hour range. Think about it, how much work would you do for 10-20 dollars, minus taxes. This is why I quit the dealer and opened on my own.
On the 7.3, you may as well just pick it up. The tech is in the free work territory now, so it only goes down hill from here. I have seen it play out too many times.
