Depends on what kind of chain you're talking about... Personally... I think if you're looking at a Duo-Trac style chain with 3/8" side and cross chain, you're going to pay about that much. If you build a set of ladder chains yourself from good quality 3/8" cross and side chain and use j-hooks to attach the cross chain... you'll easily spend that much. I have no doubt you can go buy used chain somewhere for 100 bucks... but it might be the worst money you ever spent too. I find it's not uncommon to wear out a set of cross chains in one winter if you're on the road or concrete with it any amount. That is where the j-hooks pay their way.
