When I was growing up in the 40"- 50"s it was not "cool" for a boy to like cats. I struggled with that concept since my Dad loved them and always had at least 2 or 3 in and out of the house. They loved him and would always lay on his lap when he was reading. It really upset me when guys would brag about torturing cats by setting them on fire, tying them by tail on clothesline, or deliberately running them over on the road. I often wondered how these guys developed in later life, if they became perverse bullies or maladjusted sociopaths ( or perhaps NJ politicians)LOL!!
