Do not run an alternator equipped vehicle with the battery disconnected ever. I am not scolding, I am being very serious. The alternator operates using the battery as a control of the system. the voltage can peak in the area of 100+ volts and ruin every thing in the vehicle attahced to the wiring, and the alternator as well. Take the alternator to the parts store and have them run tests on it. I hope nothing is toast. A bad alternator is likely. They can drain batteries. Jim
