A Miller Elite or Elite Digital is money well spent, but it's $300+-, and in this case, I don't really feel it should fully fall upon your son to buy it. If he continues to have problems, the best bet would be to call OSHA. (So long as the company isn't going to end up with 5 or 6 figure fines.) See if OSHA will do a "random" inspection. Like the inspector was in the area and decided to 'drop in'. If your son talks to the boss about the problem, and then OSHA shows up, there will be some suspicion. It sucks that things have to be done in this fashion, but if your son values his employment, it's likely the best way to go.
