NYC water comes from 19 reservoirs in the SE corner of the state and NYC owns 69 wells in Queens. Back in the 60s I used to drive past the Downsville Dam which I think is the Pepacton Res. I've almost seen the bottom the Res. because of low water I was in Arizona a few years ago and south of Lake Havasu city, at that time you could see 2 large at least 25' diameter pipes coming out of the Colorado river heading toward California and there was talk of building more. I was told by residents that was waterpipes for LA.
