I plowed with a 1988 3500, 454. Rebuilt the trans at 60K, rebuilt the engine at 80K. I smacked some stuff pretty darn hard. On accident of course. Did a lot of little welding here are there, but never on the frame. A few stress cracks around the plow mounts on the frame and a the trans cross member. Catching the lip of a manhole cover or drain will really give you a jarring. Had to put a new hitch on it at 90K cause the salt spreader would fling salt up under the back and on the frame rails too.
In the summer it had a 10K lb trailer on it all the time. One heck of a beast, it got used HARD its whole life. Was sad to see it go, but it mostly worn out.
