In our area, farmers were traveling up to 15 miles since the late sixties. Today, most of my neighbors travel up to 30 miles or more. BTOs are covering 3-4 counties. The biggest are farming in multiple states. Modern tractors and combines travel 25-30 mph. Its really not a big deal to run "up north" or "out west" for a day or three before returning machinery to the main yard. What's an hour or two out of a day for travel if you can add 5 or 600 acres to the operation? Heck, we run 30 miles just for groceries or a ball game and don't give it a second thought.
