Most guys want to 'cut' the same # of rows that they plant.That is so they dont have to fight 'guessrows'.Do a good job planting the guess row thing wont matter.For years I planted 4 rows,,cut 3 rows.Then I went to planting 6 row.Worked good,then I followed the planter.The next year I bought a 4 row machine and am still planting 6.Unless your guess rows are really horrible/crooked,it wont matter if the planter and combine dont 'match'.
