Well it depends on which JD 7000 planter it is. If it is the common "regular" planter then you will have to modify the wheel lift rock shaft. The wheel arms are not adjustable. So you can't slide the planting units in to 30" from 38" because the tires are in the way.
IF it is a JD 7000 CONSERVATION planter then it had the wheel lift modules that are bolted to the main frame. These you can just unbolt and slide everything around. You may have to shorted the marker slide tube as it will not go in far enough for narrow rows.
I would bet that it is a JD regular 7000. They are 80% of the total production in wide rows.
As for making it a three point planter. You can do it but you have to make/buy the planter drive wheel assemblies. JD 7000/7200/1750 planter do not drive off the planter unit. The drive off of the lift/depth control wheels.
The three point planter of that vintage is a JD 7100.
