Don-Wi; if you elect U-Haul they are going to ask lots of ?'s; prof of insurance, what is your towing vehicle, what are you hauling. Don't repeat this but, the local U-haul renter said always tell them you are hauling a Chevy Nova chassis cause it will always fit the bill. They via computer, match what you have, etc. With their hitch braking system, don't get yourself in a pinch by needing to back uphill while loaded. Make sure every light, etc. is up to snuff on your vehicle as you would make some troopers day if not. Safety-wise it should be anyway. Early March of '04 I drove back from Orlando, a 1967 F-100. The last leg was from Paducah, Kentucky to Monroe plus four more hours tuckered me out. Vinyl seats, no radio, no heat as I didn't want to run decades of unknown gunk through to water pump...it got a little uncomfortable about central Illinoizzz; their roads suck big time also. Yup, check the local rental. I trailered roundtrip to Maryland (visit my sister and B-I-L) then NJ and backhauled an IH 460. Good to get back on Badger State ground. If you are under the gun for time, it ain't gonna be fun and what happens if delayed by breakdowns and or weather. Maybe he should make his own hauling arrangments? Just my 20 cents worth. Good luck.
