Other than the folks at the Vet, and my in-laws that took him for us and helped with him last night, who am I supposed to say something nice about? Yes, I appreciate the heck out of my in-laws for the time they spent taking him, and the time they spent taking care of him last night, and they have been thanked already. As far as the folks at the Vets office go, they were thanked before we left....but the way I see it they were just doing their job, with us paying them to do it, just like any other professional would do. To me that doesn't really justify any additional thanks, etc beyond simply thanking them for what they did.

Now years ago I took my dogs to an old 'country' Vet. He'd be the first one to tell you that he would gladly give your outside cat/dog the $50 round of medicine, or he could simply give it the 50 cents worth of stuff that was all it really needed. He was the kind that went over and above for every animal that he saw. Things like fixing up one of my dogs that had gotten her leg hurt/broke and putting in a pin that pushed the cost up way more than I could afford to pay, while not charging me more than I could afford...and then also doing the needed x-rays, and taking it out free of charge one Saturday morning. It wasn't until he passed and the younger generation came in that profits seemed to take a huge place at the front of the line, in front of doing it 'for the love of the animals'. Granted I know many folks in the profession do what they do because the love helping animals, but, again the way I see it it's just their job, so they are not really any different than I am with the things I do (they fix animals, I fix machines....)

That said, I do thank everyone involved, and still think they sorry individual that threw him out deserves to be buggy whipped.........

Today's Featured Article - Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point ... [Read Article]
