Occasionally travel to Chicago to see my daughter and her family. A couple of years ago someone stole my license sticker when I stayed overnight and parked on the street. Heard it isn't uncommon for this to happen in Chicago. Somewhat my fault because I leave one expired sticker when I apply the new one. Just real hard to remove that last sticker without damaging the plate. More recently purchased a new truck and when staying overnight now remove both side accessible tool boxes and use a clear license plate cover so they can't easily access the rear plate. Problem is this is illegal in Illinois because you are now obstructing the plate. Consequently while driving on the interstate I got pulled over. Seems like they would have a greater impact on criminal behavor if they focused on other more destructive illegal activities.
