I've seen it happen time and time again, the kids that never leave and go somewhere else never realize how good they have it and how easy it is to screw it all up.
I've seen it in construction and farming - the best operators/managers are the ones that grew up in the business and then worked for someone else for several years before they came back to the family operation.
