I bought a cord, but not really a cord. My cords are only 20" long, not 24 because they won't fit through the door of my wood stove.
I burn oak because it burns good, no sparks and leaves nice coals for restarting the fire in the middle of the night.
This was an exception as this guy cut down and prepared a dead oak tree from a neighbors farm. $100 a cord. Burns good.
Price varies as does quality. I pay max $150 a short cord and I haul it home. Keep looking till I find it. No more of these unseen deliveries for me. Big screwing. I will burn a couple of short cords per year. Actually the wood hunt is an adventure for me in the fall. I enjoy going up into the sandy loam country where the dirt is brown/sandy loam and oaks everywhere.
Propane is really cheap now, running $1.95 in quantity but nothing beats the wholesome warmth of a steel box full of wood.....quality radiant heat.
