There are a lot of positive things to be said about the older times. And a lot of negative also. I was born in 1939 and do not remember a time when we were not participating in some war or talking about it. The way things were rationed during WWII, etc. The Korean conflict, the Viet Nam War, etc. Sure, gas was cheap, bread was cheap, etc. but when I graduated from school in 57 my first job paid $1.25 an hour! And that had to buy gas, groceries, clothing, and unless you were fortunate as I was living at home, it had to pay for a roof over your head. IMHO, the ten years between 1955 and 1965 were about the best years this country has seen. Korea was cooling off, and Viet Nam hadn't really gotten wound up yet.Business was booming all over, people were working and making decent wages. and buying things. I saw more new tractors in fields and more dealerships than ever. I know someone will likely disagree with some of this, but that's OK, as I said, JMHO.
