I know your frustration , Back many moons ago when i owned my truck i had a couple break downs on the road . Not fun at all. One in Inddy it was not a major one just a head light switch at 11:30 at night . Some local helped me find the I H dealer out on the west side by the airport and i was able to make it just before they closed the doors . Told the parts guy what i needed and he walked back got the switch handed it to me and said that the cash draw was locked up for the night and the next time thru to stop by and pay him then. Swapped out the switch in there parking lot and was gone in twenty min. Next major break down was when trying to avoid the first major DOT inspection ever held and my solution may not have been the best as it cost me a clutch as the back road i chose turned onto a two track of sand and mud , hey it looked good on the map. But it took everything that truck had to get thru it , power divider locked in third gear flat on the floor for around five miles till i found the state line and pavement again. and about a 150 miles down the road the clutch came apart . And the dragon wagon had to come and get me . When i called my dealer to come and drag me home the first word out of his mouth was are you LOADED ?? yep i sure am . When i called my one buddy had stopped at the dealer ship to get filters and made the mistake of stopping with just his tractor and while he was at the parts counter old Wild Bill hooded to his tractor and sorta stole it and brought it out so we could drag my trailer home . His truck was a 1978 Eagle 4300 400 big cam 13 speed 4.33 gears where mine was a 77 4300 350 SMALL CAM 13 speed and 4.33 gears . Lets just say i was not impressed with his 400 as for some reason it did NOT like the load on my trailer . And Gene was always braggen how well his ran . Wild Bill got it home and backed into the shop as they had already cleared a spot for it and by the time i got there with my trailer and dropped it out inft. of the dealership on the street as that was the only place i could drop it with out it sinking to China the transmission was already out and the new clutch was going in . Three hours later i was back running .

Today's Featured Article - Field Modifications (Sins of the Farmer) - by Staff. Picture a new Chevrolet driving down the street without it's grill, right fender and trunk lid. Imagine a crude hole made in the hood to accommodate a new taller air cleaner, the fender wells cut away to make way for larger tires, and half of a sliding glass door used to replace the windshield. Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a ...
