I was told the same thing by a place that specializes in reconditioning batteries and also sells new batteries. I've had excellent service buying reconditioned batteries from them at half the cost of new. I need an 8D battery for my Cat cause the reconditioned one they sold me won't hold enough charge in the cold. I put that battery in in 2004! $80 for an 8D that lasted 9 years is great value if you ask me. 8D is the largest battery you can get and I'm going to see if they have another reconditioned one.
