Bob, My father inherited the farm as soul surviving child from his parents, My brother and I realized early on that if we wanted the farm, we'd need to buy it and buy it early.
Dad was a hard worker, but had no desire to farm for as hard as he worked, he drank even harder.
Our strategy was to wait 'til Dad saw the need for some cash he didn't have available and then just happen to come from the bank to him with an offer and luckily it worked.
The last 200 acres of the original farm is now in the process of being handed on to the next generation, and it'll be a single farm again.
