Non-runners needing tires go for scrap. Or figure it backwards; after it is all fixed up you could get $2,000 if it is extremely nice. Deduct $1,000 for tires $1,000 for a decent paint job, 1,200 for machine shop and rebuild kit for the motor, other parts $500.00. You can see what you can afford to pay for it. Of course you could get lucky and not need much mechanical work and just perform a 20-20 DIY paint job, but you will still need tires.
