It must be kinda like other laws, vary from state to state, and depends a lot on how honest the man is who runs the recycle business. I live in North Carolina and I read frequently about a/c units, copper pipe, wire, etc. being stolen and no one is ever charged, which means that there are crooked dealers out there. Last week I called the local recycling yard and the girl told me that If I had an a/c unit I had to be in the business I told her that I had the receipt where I had paid for the unit and installation, and she said that would be acceptable. I then told her that I had two large window units that were given to me about twenty years ago and I had never used them.After checking with someone she came back and said that they would accept them.
