Saw where some posters doubted the story bout JD_S harvesting hundred thousand bushels in one day with 3 machines running. Rode w/ neighbor running a 5 yr old machine harvesting the other day. Calculated he was harvesting 2000 bu/hr the speed he was running.The machine never varied in ground speed no matter the yield of corn and he went thru some dang good corn.(This was large machine).So if you had 3 machines working and enough tractors and wagons were available (and family help)I think what JD was saying was entirely doable in 18-20 hrs.In my example it would have taken 17 hr to harvest hundred thousand bushels, based on 3 modern combines in good shape. Are some of us way out of touch with the humongous harvest capacity of bigger, modern combines less than 10 yrs old ?
