Very well stated!I couldn't have said it better myself! (Probably not even as well). Unfortunately, "extra curricular activities", now do seem to be just as important as "book larnin'". So I guess that makes it 50%. When I was in school, ("Class of '57", they even wrote a song about us,) we only had Football, Basketball, and Baseball, in season.I didn't particularly like any of them and was darned nigh failed for a couple years. I wished for something less than a contact sport, such as archery, or track, or any of the myriad of sports that they have now. I love the way you explained your understanding of "extra", I feel that way myself. And your last remark about jocks is funny. In most instances, true, but funny.
