Back in 99 I had 2 days off for Columbus Day, plus 2 more. Was hauling electronics components to so Tex border, jockeys pulled across to Mex & brought finished goods back to us. 13 company drivers started arriving on Fri, I got there Sun. Mon, the 11th, was holiday in Tex, so nothing moved. Tue, the 12th, was holiday in Mex, so nothing moved then either. Loads started coming across on Wed, I had to wait til Fri to get a load & start rolling again. Didn't earn much that week, but company paid 40 bucks a day after sitting 24 hours.
