When I had a job I looked forward to these government designed days off but when I retired and started farming I find them to be a royal pain. I called for a tractor part but no one answered the phone and I then called a trucker to make sure he was ready to haul my corn next week but again, no answer. But then I woke up, today is a holiday and everything is on hold. I know the malls are going to be full of shoppers as will all the places where people go to play. But for me there is nothing going on since everyday is mine to use as I please..almost. I wonder if any other farmers or retired persons find these banker holidays more of a bother than a pleasure. Now, before someone condemns me for not recognizing that the business workers need time off let me say that I did have a job for many years and did look forward to time off and do see the need. I am just gripping now because I can. LOL
