Except for one blip in august due to problems in Syria gas prices have been coming down all year at a slow but steady pace after highs from a hard hurricane year in 2012.
All the cards seem to be in place. Problems in Syria and Iran are calmed down causing oil prices to drop. We had a uneventful hurricane season. Refineries have just switched to winter gas on September 15 that is 10 to 15 cents cheaper to make. And the government shutdown has the economy outlook and stock market in turmoil.
Now if we can get a mild winter to cause a surplus in diesel we may see lows we have not seen for a while. But I do not really see that happening. If the government shutdown does not last much longer; (I could give reasons why the shutdown will end soon but that will make this go poof) and winter sets in causing demand for home heating diesel; the price of gas is going back up. So enjoy it while you can.
