Once upon a time, long ago, as a young man, I serviced a JD baler in the winter. The kicker worked fine when tripped by hand. The first time out with the baler on a beautiful Jun. day, I had run to the hospital for the birth of our first child(daughter). When I got back, they hadn't gotten much done. Finally they had stuck a board under the back of the baler and a guy was riding along tripping the kicker manually! Of course the implication was it was all my fault- new young hired man, etc. I took a look and discovered the trip arm up by the valve was frozen up on the bushing. I loosened the bolt and let it pivot on that for the rest of the day. Apparently a good push by hand gave it just enough more movement to trip. I quit that job a couple months later. I didn't like being surrounded by idiots.
