I am the bad guy that started the discussion about HS drop outs. I am amazed by the numbers. 22% nationwide, 50% in major cities. These people have no chance to ever earn a decent living. (don't tell me about your granndfather in 1935). The result is(as you have noted) generations of unemployed getting checks from society. Read my original post. The national budget deficit that everyone screams about ...starts here. Once they drop out of HS there is little chance that they will ever be able to carry their own weight. But, they want the same things others have and that leads to crime. 75% of all crime is commmitted by HS drop outs.
My point is: until you fix this problem, you can not fix the federal deficit problem, the drug problem or the welfare problem. 22% of the population with no chance for a decent life is a recipe for disaster....guess what...it's here.
