well Mike I removed the ground wire and put a new battery in (old battery was bad)now when I start it the amp gauge does not register nothing maybe a negative 1.... I am guessing the VR is bad ... I ordered one and will have to wait until it arrives .. i did run the tractor for only two minutes can you think of anything else I can do while waiting... thanks again for all the help from everyone
