Well regardless of the overwhelming response from posters that you should treasure the hours spent doing homework with your children, it is a subject worth discussion.
There is a very scholarly article in Atlantic Magazine this issue (read it last night) saying that the homework pendulum has swung far too far to load up students (for a variety of reasons).
We did not do much homework when I grew up (long ago) and I would hold up my classes SAT scores to the ones being earned today. I am not sure why but something we are doing in education is not working very well.
Kids know all about diversity, and equality, and political correctness and too many can not read, count or find another state on a map. And that did not start 5 years ago.
