I think your old vet, who you originally liked, sent you off to a "specialist" because they didn't want to be the one to tell you your dog had a major medical issue, especially since they originally told you it wasn't that serious. You would think a vet would be professional enough to give the straight answer instead of passing you off to another vet but I guess even some professionals don't like to be the bearers of bad news.
