I've almost never had a telemarketer leave a message on my machine- I look at caller ID, and don't answer if I don't recognize the number, it goes to voicemail, and they almost never leave a message.
And if your message is so long that they can't leave a message, how can anyone else?
If no one can leave a message, why not just toss the answering machine and go back to the "old way"?
