working with some ones mess, been converted from 6 to 12 volt. new distributor new 12 to 6 coil no resistor. burnt points bad, actually got hot enough the plastic melted into breaker point half letting points close. can't adjust any more. the pos. side of coil going to switch neg. going to distributor. would adjust points 5 minutes running they would close again. changed the coil wires around, tractor run points still had gap when I left the field. all wiring diagrams show pos. to the switch. any suggestions
