The feed value is not there anymore, remember we cant create energy, we can only make it change forms. Some of the missing energy is now in the form of alcohol.
From memory, you get 1/3 of the amount of dry distillers grain back after you are done making the alcohol but just to be sure I did a quick google search and found on the Wiki page for DDGR its much less, about 1/4 returned. "One tonne of corn produces 378 L of ethanol and 479 kg WDG (70% moisture content), or 309 kg of DDGS (10% moisture content)." In units we understand, thats 2200 pound of corn makes 100 gallons of ethanol and leaves 689 pounds of dry distillers grain.

Im sure there are web sites that will break it down closer but thats a real, real good explanation and example of how you cant say you get as much back out of it after making the ethanol. Hope that helps.
