About 3 years ago I converted my Super C to 12 volt, put a coil on with a built in resister. One day I went to sart it, wouldn't start, happened to look in fuel bowl and it was down a bit, checked gas, was out. So I put gas in it then got to doing something else in the garage. About 3 hours later I heard this big bang, scared the heck out of me. I got looking around and noticed this oil, tar stuff all over the side of the engine. Turned out I left the key on and blew apart the coil. Put a new coil on it and worked great after. Suprised me that leaving a key on could blow a coil.
