I too read that whole exchange with amazement. I enjoy the exchange of ideas on here on many subjects. But am appalled at how many speak with absolute certainty, without really knowing! When I am not sure, (which is more often now as my knowledge base grows, and I AGE), I say so. Knowing as much as one possibly can about tax rules, AND having a SYMPATHETIC advisor, is my goal. I managed for many years to minimize income, and therefore avoid lots of tax. Not so much any more. Last year the check I sent the IRS in late Feb. was paid by my bank on Mar.1 ! However, because of NY state's "farmers school tax credit", I was due a significant refund from the state. It JUST arrived!. Just in time to pay this years school tax!
