I have deep sympathy for your mothers fall, and attack. May all turn out for the best. I have had very good luck with computers purchased from Ebay. HP and Toshiba and Sony computers seem very stable. The Professional Business class devices are far and away better than the home based systems. Windows8 is OK as is windows7 8 can be used with the look and feel of 7 (not the touch screen like slider shown on TV. It works. Jim
